Our Lady of the Snows

Allie + John and their fun Ketchum wedding!

Allie and John’s wedding was a great end to our super busy wedding season! I love the two of them and their sweet, fun and warm personalities. Their wedding was wonderful– a beautiful ceremony, a spectacular fall day and family and friends beaming with happiness for Allie and John!

John grew up in Ketchum, went to the Community School and has a super close group of friends from the valley (I actually met him years ago when I did his high school senior portraits!) He and Allie went to Gonzaga and met on a weekend skip trip to Canada through the GU Ski and Snowboard Club. They found they had lots in common and started dating shortly after.

I often ask people about how they got engaged, because it always tells me so much about who they are as a couple. Here is Allie and John’s story,

“As a tradition every year John and his family spend the 4th of July at their cabin in Stanley. This year, John and I were fortunate to have time off work and traveled to Idaho to join in the holiday celebrations. The morning of July 3rd John asked if I would like to go on a hike to kick off the day, which sounded nice before the day got too warm, so I said sure! We hopped on our bikes and headed towards the mountain directly across from the family cabin, which they had nicknamed years ago “Crystal Mountain.” John was carrying a backpack, which I found a little odd, but I didn’t think much of it. When we got to the top of the hike it was a beautiful view- we could see the cabin, the river and the snowy Sawtooth Mountains in the distance. I was taking pictures of the view when I turned around to see John kneeling down! I was completely shocked and thrilled, and said yes right away. From his backpack john pulled out champagne and his parents’ wedding glasses for a toast to a lifetime of adventures together.”

A super sweet story for an awesome couple! Thanks Allie and John for choosing me as your photographer– it was so much fun to be a part of your wedding day! I could not have enjoyed it more!

LeAnn & Dave’s Sun Valley Winter Wedding

High on the excitement of a beautiful ceremony at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, LeAnn and Dave raised crystal glasses for their first toast as husband and wife at the Knob Hill Inn. As they did, LeAnn shared a sweet story that all started with the glasses in their hands. Backpacking in Prague in the early nineties, LeAnn bought the precious Moser crystal glasses, thinking that they would be perfect for her wedding someday. The glasses (after making it home intact), stayed tucked away for more than a decade, until 7 years ago, having been diagnosed with breast cancer and with no wedding on the horizon, LeAnn decided that life was too short, and used one of the glasses for the first time. Now, after surviving a long battle with cancer, LeAnn has finally met her soulmate and got the wedding of her dreams. On a winter night in Sun Valley, all these years later, LeAnn and Dave drank from those glasses, surrounded by their friends and family. I am honored that they choose me to photograph their big day and share in their story.

Congrats you two! Wishing you every happiness in the life you’ll share together!

Rachael and Garrett get married!

_DSC5416At some weddings, everyone feels like family. That was Rachael and Garrett’s wedding on Saturday. Married at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Ketchum, with a reception at the Valley Club, the couple had the sweetest celebration, surrounded by people who obviously love them. I really enjoyed being a part of it, as well as working with everyone who put the event together, including my second photographer Adelaide Mason, Amanda Seaward of Absolute Weddings, Tara Bella Flowers, DJ Nathan Hudson and the staff at The Valley Club and Third Floor Salon.

Katie & Clark’s Sun Valley Wedding– a little peek!

_DSC3015Katie and Clark and their families threw quite a party to celebrate their wedding this weekend, and I was lucky enough to be a part of it! Here are some fun preview images of the event. As usual, it was fun to work with a great team of vendors, including Heather Minor Events, Adelaide Mason, CKs and Tara Bellla Flowers!
