Lauren & Kenneth got married in Sun Valley!

Lauren and Kenneth are so cute and romantic, and so was their wedding. It was beautiful, extravagant and fun, but still felt so intimate and personal.

I love to hear people’s stories— who they are, how they met, how they got engaged. These are the first questions that I ask people when we start to talk about their wedding day, because I want to really know who they are, and to strive to bring these things through in their images.

Here is the story of how Kenneth ask Lauren to marry him, “We were in the Grand Cayman Islands for my uncle’s wedding. The proposal was the day after the wedding. The whole family was getting ready for dinner, and I asked Lauren to come with me to watch the sunset. Little did she know that there were flower petals in a heart shape on the beach and a photographer ready to capture the event. We walked down to the beach, and noticed the flowers. At that time I turned to her and told her how much I loved her and wanted her to be in my life forever. I knelt down on one knee and asked her. The whole family was watching from the resort balcony and irrupted in cheer. We lit a Chinese wish lantern and watched it fly into the distance after making a wish.”

For me, last weekend’s wedding was a pleasure to photograph—not only because Lauren and Kenneth are so in love and so sweet together, but also because over the years, I have gotten to know their family well. Their wedding was the third family wedding I have been lucky enough to photograph, and this family knows how to have a good time!

Thank you to the great team of people who made Lauren & Kenneth’s big day come together so beautifully!

Brooke and Brooks had the sweetest wedding last weekend in the Sun Valley. Somehow, everything came together perfectly– a couple in love, friends and family who could not have been happier for them, a beautiful summer day, a stunning location, and a great team to put it all together. Brooke and Brooks’ happiness was contagious– just looking at them, you could feel their joy and excitement! Thank you so much for choosing me as your photographer. Surrounded by family and friends, they looked stunning as they were married on the lawn overlooking Bald Mountain, and then went on to have quite a party! It was so much fun to get to spend some time with them, get to know all their people and to capture their big day. Thanks to a great team of vendors for helping to bring it all together!

Our spring trip to Zion!

Its always so rejuvenating to get out of town! This spring we took a trip down to Zion National Park, and got some great family time in. We hadn’t been to Zion for 10 years– last time we were there Asha was 1, and now she is 11! We also had kind of a milestone– doing out first real mountain bike ride with Kyra– so exciting! The trip definitely gave us a little bit of spring fever and we are ready for summer!

The Pet Project has been fun!

We’ve been having a blast getting to meet all sorts of furry friends during our third annual Pet Project (to benefit The Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley) over the last couple of weeks. It’s been so much fun! Here are some images from some of our early sessions!

Hooray for the Pet Project 2018!

It’s time for another Pet Project! As we all know, the Wood River Valley is an extremely pet friendly place. Our furries are family members. The Animal Shelter of the Wood River Valley has spent countless hours creating a safe haven for all kinds of animals, and even more hours put towards finding them “forever” homes. We want to celebrate their efforts (and show our love for our pets) by offering the Pet Project 2018 at the beginning of May!

Over the years, it’s been really nice to get to know everyone’s stories of their sweet pets through these Pet Project sessions.  We’d like to share some of the images from a couple of our favorite shoots from last year’s sessions.

Here is Audrey Boyer and her dog Pearl, a blue Heeler mix, who was part of the Boyer family for over 14 years. Pearl was brought to the shelter after having been found alone in the snow up Fisher Creek with an open bag of dog food. She was only a year old. Amy brought her daughter Audrey and their dogs Pearl and Tico in to the studio for last year’s Pet Project. Shortly after the session, we found out that Pearl passed away. While she is dearly missed, we’re so very happy she got to spend most of her life with her human Audrey and the rest of the family. Pearl loved to hike, fetch sticks and swim, and of course, eating and sleeping!

This sweet email from Amy made our day, “I just wanted to let you know how extra meaningful our photos of Audrey with dogs now are…. We actually haven’t hung up the photos yet – we just needed a bit more time before we could look at her smiling face again! But once we do hang them, I know they’ll make us all feel happy as we remember our funny little Pearlie Girl.”

…and as we always say, we love ALL your animals and welcome them with open arms and camera!

Here is Skylar and her birds Lou the parakeet and Rio the Caique. Rio came from the Santa Barbara Bird Sanctuary and likes 24/7 attention and to tear up anything within reach, while Lou is content sitting on Skylar’s shoulder or staring at himself in the mirror. Both birds are very very sweet. One of Skylar, Rio and Lou’s favorite activities together is showering! (The birds have their own special perch), and hanging out in the kitchen together nibbling on snacks.

Zoe & Tyler’s Engagement Session

I’m excited to share some of Zoe and Tyler’s engagement photos! The shoot was lots of fun, and as usual, the session gave us a chance to get to know each other a little more before the wedding. I love their proposal story:

‘Zoe is an avid road biker (and outdoors woman).  Tyler had never biked, and would traditionally spend his weekend watching sports.  Zoe bought Tyler a bike, and all of the gear.  Tyler finally agreed to go on his first ride.  On this ride (which was to the location of their first date 18 months prior) Tyler said that he had a “rock in his shoe” and had to get off his bike. Little did Zoe know, there was in fact a rock in his shoe, just not the type she had at first envisioned.  Tyler pulled out the rock, got down on one knee, and asked for Zoe’s hand.’

Zoe & Tyler are getting married in Sun Valley this summer, where both of their families have been coming for years– we are looking forward to it!

Taylor & Brad’s Snowy Sun Valley Wedding

Taylor and Brad had their hearts set on a winter wonderland wedding, but there has not been a whole lot of snow this winter. As their big day approached, it looked like that was not going to change, so the couple was all set to make the most of it, and began to celebrate with their friends and family as they arrived to enjoyed all that Sun Valley has to offer, with or without snow.

The weekend started with a rehearsal dinner at the Town Square Tavern, and a welcome party at Whiskey Jacques the next night. On Saturday morning, the girls gathered in a room at the Sun Valley Lodge to drink champagne, hang out and get ready together. The guys, always quick to get ready, met at Grumpy’sfor a pre-wedding schooner.

And then around midday, a few hours before the ceremony, the snow began to fall, coating the valley with a pretty white coat of snow. It continued to fall right through their ceremony, which could not have been more sweet as they stood under the verandah at the The Valley Club, with snow flakes swirling around them, their guests wrapped in the blankets.

Marie, the mother of the bride, with the help of Amanda Seaward (wedding planner extraordinaire), put together the most classic, cozy, and fun Sun Valley wedding! With so many fun personal little touches and the most enthusiastic group of friends and family, they really pulled off a wonderful event.

Thanks to everyone who made tit all come together– Amanda Seaward of Absolute Weddings, Tara Ooms of Tara Bella Flowers, Kathleen Weber of Embrey Press , who is responsible for the beautiful invitation and the rest of the paper suite, Tomiko & Brianna from Santa Barbara who did the hair and makeup as well as Britt Davis of Britt Davis Beauty, Sarah Lipton of Hank & Sylvie’s, who did the cake, DJ Nate, Jay who did the lighting, Two Birds Studio who did the video and of course my second shooter Christina Carlson. It’s been fun starting out the 2018 wedding season with you!
